In short: no contract and nothing to pay up front. You pay after lessons, from an invoice. Give us 24 hours’ notice to cancel or move a lesson, and you can stop at any time by letting us know.
Who we are
Lessons are provided by Richmond Tutoring Company Ltd (company number 16871015), trading as Richmond Tutoring, 37 Talma Gardens, Twickenham TW2 7RB. Contact us at hello@richmondtutoring.co.uk or 07901 286606. These terms apply when a parent or guardian, or a student aged 18 or over, arranges lessons with us. In these terms, “you” means the person who arranges and pays for the lessons.
The free demo class
The first 45-minute demo class is free and there is no obligation to carry on. Lessons only start if you tell us you’d like them to.
Lessons and prices
- Lessons are 1-to-1 and online unless we agree otherwise. We agree the days, times and length of lessons with you.
- Our standard price is £36 per lesson, at every level. Lessons are usually 60 minutes; some may be shorter, depending on the student and the topic, and we’ll agree that with you first. If we agree a different rate with you, that agreed rate applies, and we’ll confirm it in writing (an email or message is fine) before lessons start.
- If we ever need to change our prices, we’ll tell you at least 4 weeks before the change. If you don’t want to carry on at the new price, you can stop as described below.
Paying
- You pay after lessons have taken place, never in advance.
- We send an invoice weekly or monthly, whichever we agree with you, listing the lessons it covers.
- Please pay within 7 days of the invoice date, using the payment details on the invoice.
- If an invoice isn’t paid, we’ll remind you first. We may pause further lessons until it is paid.
Cancelling or moving a lesson
- You can cancel or move a lesson free of charge if you tell us at least 24 hours before it is due to start.
- If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, or the student doesn’t attend, the lesson is charged in full.
- If we have to cancel a lesson, you won’t be charged for it, and we’ll offer a make-up lesson at no extra cost where we can arrange one that suits you.
- When you cancel with enough notice, we’ll offer a make-up lesson where possible, or simply not charge for the cancelled lesson.
Stopping lessons
You can stop lessons at any time by telling us by email, phone or message. There is no minimum term and no notice period. You only pay for lessons that have already taken place, plus any lesson cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice. We’ll send a final invoice for those.
We may also stop providing lessons, for example if we can no longer offer a suitable tutor or invoices go unpaid. If we do, we’ll tell you in good time where we can, and you won’t be charged for any lessons after that.
Your legal right to cancel
Because lessons are arranged without meeting in person, you have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of agreeing to lessons, without giving a reason. To cancel, tell us by email, phone or message. If you asked us to start lessons within those 14 days, you pay only for lessons already given. In practice our terms go further: you can stop at any time, not just in the first 14 days.
What we can and can’t promise
We provide lessons with reasonable care and skill, using tutors who know the subject and the exam boards. Exam results also depend on the student’s own work, their school and the exam itself, so we can’t guarantee a particular grade. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer or limits our responsibility in any way the law doesn’t allow.
How we handle personal details is explained in our privacy policy.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with anything, please tell us at hello@richmondtutoring.co.uk or 07901 286606. We’ll look into it and reply as quickly as we can, and we’ll try to put it right.
Changes and the law
We may update these terms. If a change affects lessons you already have, we’ll tell you before it applies. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also use the laws and courts where you live.
