Which exam board does your child’s school use?
Not sure? It’s on letters from the school’s maths department, or ask the maths teacher. OCR is coming soon.
Which tier is your child entered for?
Not sure? Our guide to Foundation or Higher explains the difference.
Papers:
We picked an older year because schools often use the newest papers for their own mocks.
Sit the papers
- Open the paper (it opens on the exam board’s website). Print it, or keep it on a screen and write the answers on paper.
- Press Start when your child starts writing. Stop when the timer reaches zero.
- Show all working: method marks count. No notes, phone or help.
One paper a day works best. The timers remember where you got to on this device.
Send the answers for free marking
Add your details, then take clear photos of every page of the answers (or upload a scan). Don’t mark them yourself. When you press Send for marking, you get a private report page straight away, and we email you when the report is ready.

Photograph every page flat, in good light, in order. PDF scans work too, and big PDFs are made smaller automatically. If you have the question paper, add it with the answers.
Trouble uploading? Email the photos to hello@richmondtutoring.co.uk and we’ll add them for you.
Your files stay private to our tutors.
Thank you — your papers are with us.
A tutor will mark them and write your report. This is your private report page — keep the link. We’ll also email you when the report is ready.

Is the mock exam really free?
Yes. Sitting it is free, and so is the marking. We ask for a parent’s email so we can send the report. There is no obligation to book lessons.
Which papers are used?
Real past papers from AQA or Pearson Edexcel, Foundation or Higher, opened straight from the exam board’s website, marked with the board’s own mark scheme and grade boundaries.
Why do you pick an older year of papers?
Schools often use the newest papers (June 2025 and November 2024) for their own mocks. An older year means your child is unlikely to see the same questions twice. You can change it in step 1.
How is it marked?
Every answer is checked against the official mark scheme, including method marks, and a specialist GCSE Maths tutor checks the result. The report gives marks for each question, an estimated grade, the topics to work on and a revision plan.
Do we have to sit all three papers?
No. One paper gives a useful picture, but the three together cover the whole course and give the most reliable estimated grade. Many families sit one paper a day over a weekend, then send them together.
How do we know which board and tier?
The exam board is on letters and reports from the school’s maths department, or ask the maths teacher. The tier is the one your child is entered for; if you are not sure, our guide to Foundation or Higher explains the difference.
Want help with the topics it finds?
