FAQs
What does “ready for GCSE” mean here?
The GCSE course, which starts in Year 10, assumes the KS3 maths from Years 7 to 9 is secure. The check works out which year’s maths your child has secured, then compares it with where they should be for their year group at this point in the school year. A Year 8 in September should have Year 7 secure; by July, Year 8.
How accurate is it?
It is a good first guide, not a verdict. Twenty-five questions cover the main KS3 topics, from primary basics up to early GCSE, and the result comes from which questions were right, weighted by how hard they are. A demo class with a tutor gives a fuller picture.
My child is in Year 7. Is it too early?
No — Year 7 is the best time to find gaps from primary school, before they grow. Year 7s are not given the early-GCSE questions, and the result is judged against where a Year 7 should be, not a Year 9.
Can my child use a calculator?
Yes, a calculator is fine, though most questions do not need one. A pen and paper for working out will help.
Is it the same as a school test?
No. Every question was written by our tutors to cover the KS3 national curriculum in England. It is not linked to any school’s scheme of work, so the topics may come in a different order from your child’s lessons.
What happens to our details?
