FAQs
How accurate is the estimated grade?
It is a good first guide, not a prediction. Twenty-five questions cover the main topics at your tier and the estimate comes from which questions were right, weighted by how hard they are. A full exam paper is still the best test — for that, use our free paper analysis, marked by a tutor.
Can my child use a calculator?
Yes, a calculator is fine. Most questions do not need one, and a pen and paper for working out will help.
Foundation or Higher — which should my child choose?
The tier they are entered for, or expect to be. Foundation covers grades 1 to 5 and Higher covers grades 4 to 9. If you are not sure, Foundation for a target of 5 or below, Higher for a 6 or above.
Are these real exam questions?
No. Every question was written by our tutors in the style of GCSE questions, covering the same topics as the AQA, Pearson Edexcel and OCR papers. That is why the check works whichever board your child is on.
What happens to our details?
You only give a name and email if you ask for the full report. We use them to send it and to follow up about your child’s maths — nothing else. See our privacy policy.
Can my child take it again?
Yes. Each check draws a new mix of questions, so it is a good way to see progress after a few weeks of work on the gaps.
